Mac Application တစ်ခုဖြစ်တဲ့ TextMate ဆိုတာကိုတော့ Developer အများစုသိကြမှာပါ။ ဒါပေမယ့် MAC OS X ရဲ့ default editor ဖြစ်တာကြောင့် တခြား Operating System တွေမှာတော့သုံးလို့မရပါဘူး။ အဲ့ဒီတော့ ကျွန်တော်တို့ Ubuntu 10.04/10.10/11.04 တို့ ဒါမှမဟုတ် Linux Mint, Open Suse အပြင် တခြား Linux based OS တွေမှာ TextMate ကိုဘယ်လိုသုံးကြမလဲ? အလွယ်ကူဆုံးကတော့ TextMate ရဲ့ ပုံသဏ္ဍာန်တွေ Features တွေနဲ့တူအောင်ဆိုပြီး Text Editor ကိုပြုလုပ်ဖို့ပါတယ်။ TextMate လိုမျိုး code editor ကိုသာရခဲ့ရင် Programming က အရမ်းကိုလွယ်ကူလွန်းမှာပါ။

အရင်ဆုံးမပြောခင် ဘာကြောင့် TextMate က Programmers တွေကြားထဲမှာ အရမ်း နာမည်ကြီးလဲ လေ့လာကြည့်ရအောင် …

• သုံးရတာရိုးရှင်းတယ်
• Syntax Color Scheme ကောင်းတယ်
• ကောင်းတယ်လို့ထင်ရတယ်
• ပေါ့ပြီး သုံးရတာမြန်တယ်
• Productivity တိုးတက်လာတယ်
• ပြီးတော့ File Browser ပါတယ်

Linux based Distributions တွေမှာ default အနေနဲ့ပါတဲ့ text editor ကတော့ gedit လို့ခေါ်တဲ့ Free and open source text editor ဖြစ်ပြီး Plugins တွေအသုံးပြုပြီးတော့ စွမ်းဆောင်ရည်စွမ်းအားတွေ မြင့်တက်လာအောင်ပြုပြင်ပြောင်းလဲလို့ရပါတယ်။ ဒါကြောင့် ကျွန်တော်တို့က gedit ကို TextMate အဖြစ် အဆင့်အနည်းငယ်နဲ့ ပုံသဏ္ဍာန်ပြောင်းမှာပါ။ အဲ့ဒီလိုပြုလုပ်တာကို Ubuntu တစ်ခုထဲမှာသာမဟုတ်ပဲ တခြား gedit packages တွေသွင်းလို့ရတဲ့ ဘယ်လို Linux based distro မှာမဆို ရနိုင်ပါတယ်။

gedit ကို TextMate အဖြစ်ပြောင်းလဲဖို့ အဆင့်လေးဆင့်ပဲလိုအပ်ပါတယ်။

1. gedit plugins တွေသွင်းရပါမယ်

gedit ရဲ့ extra plugins တွေကိုသွင်းဖို့ဆိုရင်တော့ terminal/command line/shell တစ်ခုခုဖွင့်ပြီး command အသုံးပြုဖို့လိုပါမယ်။

sudo apt-get install gedit-plugins

2. TextMate Fonts တွေသွင်းပါမယ်

Monaco ဆိုတဲ့ Fonts က TextMate ရဲ့ Default font ဖြစ်တာကြောင့် ကျွန်တော်တို့အနေနဲ့ စက်ထဲမှာ Monaco ဆိုတဲ့ Fonts ကို Install လုပ်ပေးဖို့လိုပါလိမ့်မယ်။ Install လုပ်ပြီးပြီဆိုရင် gedit မှာ Fonts ကို Monaco ပြောင်းပေးပါ။

3. Syntax color Scheme သွင်းရပါမယ်

DarkMate theme coloring scheme ကို download လုပ်ပြီးတော့ gedit ကနေသွင်းပါ။ Install လုပ်ဖို့အတွက် gedit ကိုဖွင့်ပါ၊ Edit -> Preferences -> Font & Colors ကိုရွေးပါ။ ပြီးရင် Add button ကိုနှိပ်ပြီးတော့ download လုပ်ထားတဲ့ darkmate.xml file ကိုညွန်းပေးပါ။

4. Browser Plugin သွင်းပါမယ်

အရင်ဆုံး class browser plugin ကို download လုပ်ပြီး FileSystem-> usr-> share->gedit-2-> plugins ကိုသွားပြီး Extract လုပ်ပေးပါ။ ပြီးရင် activate ဖြစ်ဖို့အတွက် gedit ထဲက Edit->Preferences->Plugins တွေကို check box တွေနဲ့လုပ်နိုင်ပါတယ်။ အောက်က Snapshot မှာကြည့်နိုင်ပါတယ်။

အားလုံးပြီးသွားရင်တော့ Ubuntu အတွက် TextMate လေးရပါပြီ။ ကျွန်တော်ကြိုက်တာကတော့ Windows က eText Editor လို၊ Mac က TextMate လို snippets တွေသုံးလို့ရလာတာပါပဲ။ ရှိပြီးသား Snippets တွေအားလုံး ယူအသုံးပြုနိုင်သလိုပဲ မိမိစိတ်ကြိုက် Snippets တွေလည်း အသစ်ထည့်လို့ရပါသေးတယ်။ eText နဲ့ TextMate တို့လို Tab လေးတစ်ချက်နှိပ်ရုံနဲ့ Bundles တွေအားလုံး အလုပ်လုပ်ပါတယ်။ နောက်ပြီး special characters တွေနဲ့ သူတို့ရဲ့ code တွေလည်းပါသလို Ctrl+Space နှိပ်ပြီးတော့ available sinppet တွေလည်းလွယ်လွယ်လေးကြည့်ယူနိုင်ပါတယ်။ Linux ပေါ်က Developers တွေအတွက်ကတော့ နည်းလမ်းကောင်းတစ်ခုပါပဲ။

     Sublime Text? I haven’t use it before. All I use is eText Editor & Notepad ++ in Windows and gedit on Linux.

     Is Sublime Test really good ?

   Sublime Text – Highly Recommended.

   A Text editor with both Textmate features and Vim commands. + multi-select and mini-map. Feature rich and highly customizable. Better than e-Text editor. More importantly, it work on Win, Mac and Linux.

   Two minus points: it’s not open source and don’t use font fall-back (yet) which mean you will see square box for Myanmar text if you don’t set your default font to Myanmar font.

   Pardon for off comment, Kingsoft is giving away full-fledge office suite consists of Word,Excel and Powerpoint, it is rather good and is compactible with MS document formats.
   Instead of using pirated MS office this can be good substitue. Yes there is Open/Libre suite but who like MS UI should give this a try and it is also legal. Full version without restrictions.
